Tamika Nikole Huffman is a force to be reckoned with. She is a resilient survivor who has overcome a great deal of adversity to become the successful and accomplished woman she is today. Despite experiencing childhood sexual abuse, the pain of experiencing the death of her first-born son William and her beloved younger brother Almando, Tamika also overcame a very spiteful and traumatic divorce that left her a single mother forced to rebuild her life with $4.68 left in her bank account. Tamika refused to let poverty, or any other circumstances define her. Instead, she used her struggles to propel herself forward in order to provide the life she promised her 2 children at birth.
In 2022, Tamika left a high paying job as a Dispatch Supervisor with the Port Authority standing firmly on her convictions not to participate in the mandate to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of transitioning, she took full advantage of the opportunity to bet on herself and pursue her dreams by becoming an entrepreneur. Without the presence of a steady income, she was more determined than ever to continue to build a life for herself and her children that they can be proud of. Her hard work, continual investment in learning and perseverance paid off and today she is a thriving and successful owner of multiple businesses (Selfist Life/Luxury Scores/ Nile Valley) and offers her consulting services as a Housing Support Specialist with Focus on Renewal, a local McKees Rocks non-profit, where she works with local residents, landlords and the Magisterial District Judge to assist with resolution to prevent eviction and hosting Renters Rights and 1st Time Home-ownership Workshops to educate and empower members of the community and neighboring communities.
However, Tamika’s accomplishments do not end there. She is also the Pennsylvania Chapter President for (EYLU) Earn Your Leisure University powered by Recession Proof and uses this platform to spread the message of entrepreneurship and financial literacy. She sits on multiple boards of directors and is very active in her own community with the McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation using this platform to advocate on behalf of residents who are not represented in the meeting rooms. Tamika is passionate about helping others and is dedicated to using her voice and experience to inspire and uplift those around her.
Despite all that she has been through, Tamika remains optimistic and driven, never losing sight of her goals. She is a true inspiration, a testament to the power of resilience and that of the human spirit.
